TERRI’S TIP JANUARY 2024

Creative projects to get you on
the right track in the new year

Create a vision board for the new year. This is a great way to get inspired and motivated for the year ahead. Gather images, words, and quotes that represent your goals and dreams, and arrange them in a collage or poster. You can hang your vision board in a place where you’ll see it often, so it can remind you of what you’re working towards. Hopefully you’ll have major and minor decluttering and organizing projects to accomplish in the New Year!

Declutter your inbox. This is a never-ending task, but it’s especially important to do it every year in January so you start the new year with a clean state. Go through all of your emails and unsubscribe from any newsletters or lists that you no longer want to receive. Either read the interesting articles you kept or realize you were just fine never reading it and don’t feel guilty deleting them! Take the time to get rid of old emails that you don’t need — and this could be in the thousands — but it will be worth taking the time to chip away at decluttering these old emails that are bogging you down and creating unnecessary stress. Create folders for incoming mail you want to keep for referencing in the future.

Plan your holiday meals in advance. This is a great way to save time and stress during the holidays. Make a list of all the dishes you want to make, and then start planning your shopping list and cooking schedule. Keep the information from year to year so you remember what you’ve served your guests and what dishes were fan favorites. You can also make a seating chart for your guests.

Create a holiday gift guide. This is a great way to keep track of all the gifts you need to buy, and to make sure you don't forget anyone. Start by making a list of all the people you're shopping for, and then start brainstorming gift ideas. You can also look for inspiration online or in magazines.

Organize your photos. This is a great way to preserve your memories and make them easy to find. Scan old photos, create albums, or store them in the cloud. You can also create a photo book or collage to display in your home. If this project is daunting to do on your own, there are certified photo organizers you can hire.

These are just a few ideas for creative organizing projects you can embark on to feel more in control and organized. And once you create these master lists, keep them in a sheet protector in a 3-ring binder or on your computer in a place you can easily access. No matter what you choose to do, make sure it's something that will help you to feel organized and prepared in the new year.
